The Four Corners of Water — Coffee Brew Water Tasting Flight (5 Sachets)
- In stock, ready to ship
- Backordered, shipping soon
Coffee is 98% water. Water is the last 2% of tuning, not the first 98. Once your beans, grind, and ratio are dialed in, water is the knob left to turn — and the differences are real.
Want to know if you can taste the differences? We built this sampler kit for you, so you'll know if water makes a difference for your taste buds.
Water is subtle, like telling drizzle from mist. This kit lets you taste that for yourself, with all the chemistry done for you: tear a tab, pour the powder into a gallon of distilled water, swirl.
What you get
- 5 blind-numbered mineral sachets — the four corners of the good-water map (hardness × buffer), plus one dead center. Each sachet turns 1 gallon of distilled or RO water into brew water.
- Guidance — what to taste for, and what might pair best with different styles of coffee.
- A sealed reveal card — which number is which corner. No peeking until you've ranked them.
How to run the experiment
- Grab 5 jugs of distilled water at the grocery store (~$1 each).
- Tear, pour, swirl — one sachet per gallon. Brew the same coffee, same way, five times.
- Taste blind. Rank them. Argue with yourself.
- Open the reveal card. Own a TDS pen? Each water has its own conductivity fingerprint (a 183–567 µS/cm spread) — you can bust the blind with a $12 meter before you open the envelope.
The corners
Delicate (low minerals, low buffer) · Bright & Body (high minerals, low buffer) · Soft & Muted (low minerals, high buffer) · Round & Heavy (high minerals, high buffer) · Center (the balanced house profile).
No difference? Still a win
If all five taste the same to you — congratulations, you just saved yourself a lifetime of water anxiety. Most people find a corner they'd follow anywhere, and that's the point: whichever corner wins is the input for your custom water. We'll mix it for you — see Your Water.
