Is Cacao Now! actually paleo? What's in it? Yes — paleo through and through. No dairy, no refined sugar, no grains, no legumes. We built this chocolate cup from scratch specifically because most chocolate has something sneaky hiding in it — usually dairy or cane sugar. Ours is sweetened with honey and made with cacao butter and cacao powder, plus fruit and nuts folded in. Every ingredient clears the paleo bar. If you want the full ingredient list before you order, it's on the product page — read it, we're proud of it.
Does Cacao Now! contain dairy? No dairy. That's the whole point. Most chocolate — even the 'dark' stuff — sneaks in milk fat or milk solids. We don't use any of it. Cacao Now! is made with cacao butter, not dairy butter, and there's no milk, cream, or whey anywhere in the recipe. If you've been hunting for clean chocolate you can actually eat, this is it.
How does Cacao Now! ship, and will it melt? We ship Cacao Now! online and we take the chocolate-melting problem seriously. Cacao butter has a lower melting point than conventional chocolate, so we pack orders with that in mind. That said, if you're ordering during a summer heat wave and you live somewhere that gets brutal afternoon porch temps, give us a heads up or check our shipping notes — we'd rather tell you the honest thing upfront than have you open a puddle. Orders ship from our bakery in Normal Heights, San Diego.
How should I store Cacao Now! once it arrives? Keep it cool and keep it out of direct sun. A cool pantry works. The fridge works great and will extend shelf life — just let it come back to room temperature before eating if you want the full texture. Don't leave it in a hot car. Don't store it next to the stove. Treat it like good chocolate, because that's what it is.
Is Cacao Now! vegan? It's tagged paleo, not vegan — and the two don't always overlap. We're not able to confirm a vegan designation for this product here, so if that's a hard requirement for you, reach out to us directly at the shop and we'll give you a straight answer. We'd rather you ask than assume.
