So you're looking for fat bombs?

If you recently picked up a healthy diet (like Paleo, or keto) you're in good company, LOTS of people read this blog for help with healthy living!

Savory bacon fat bombs, yummy!

After so many sweets, treats, and boozy drinks, most of us could use a reset.

The challenging thing about diets is that many of them are not meant to be lifestyle changes, but quick fixes for bigger issues.

One of the worst things you can do is to cut out all the foods you love only to find yourself face planting in the nearest cheesecake, eating cookies out of the trash or sucking down soggy leftovers off of your kid’s plate.

I have found that having something special, a treat just for me, makes sticking to my healthy habits much easier.  When my kids are enjoying a snack I open up my freezer, take out my favorite tahini fat bomb and feel good about chowing down on something that will keep me full till dinner.

I also enjoy these fat bombs for breakfast and before long runs.  Use silicone muffin cups to make clean-up super easy.

Tahini Fat Bomb

Tahini, Raisin and Almond Fat Bomb

*makes three large or six small

½ cup organic tahini

2 tablespoons honey

1 teaspoon vanilla

2 tablespoons raisins

2 tablespoons slivered almonds

Pinch of salt

Combine tahini, honey and salt in a small sauce pan.  Heat and stir until smooth.  Stir in the salt and vanilla and remove from heat.  Spoon the tahini mixture into three muffin cups.  Sprinkle with raisins and slivered almonds.

Freeze until firm, about 30 minutes.  Cut in half to share or shove the whole thing in your mouth if you are feeling selfish.

Savory fat bomb made with bacon, delicious!

Almond Butter and Bacon Fat Bomb

My mom used to make peanut butter and bacon sandwiches for us growing up.  This combo inspired me to create a fat bomb with a similar flavor profile.

*makes three large or six small

½ cup almond butter

2 tablespoons coconut oil

4 strips of cooked and crumbled bacon

pinch of salt

1 teaspoon cracked black pepper

Combine almond butter and coconut oil in a small sauce pan.  Heat and stir until smooth.  Remove from heat and stir in the bacon, salt and pepper.  Spoon into silicone muffin cups and refrigerate until firm, about one hour.

When you are ready to snack, remove your almond bacon fat bomb from the fridge, let it sit out for ten minutes and then dig in.

I am sure this has to do with my “hillbilly” ancestry but adding some Frank’s hot sauce for a little tang….so good! I am making “Fat Bomds” tomorrow my Cacao butter arrived today: just need to pick up some thick cut uncured goodness.

Thanks for the suggestion, Joseph
